For the summer months, starting right now in June, the blog will be all about agriculture: the largest contributor of non-carbon dioxide emissions.

The agricultural sector alone makes up for 56% of non-CO2 emissions, and 29% of greenhouse gas emissions.

Post-industrial revolution, our food system was fundamentally re-designed to fuel mindless consumerism...rapidly adjusting to marketing trends and aiming to make food as cheaply as possible. It wasn't until recently that people began to pay attention not only to where their food is coming from, but the way in which it's grown, and how those methods directly affect our environment. Many farmers today are doing their part to be conscious of how their agricultural practices leave a footprint on our earth and some have even reverted to using regenerative forms of farming: a conservation and rehabilitation approach to food & farming systems. Check out the video below for an introduction to regenerative agriculture + why it's so important.

Summer is the perfect time to get to know your food & farmer. Visit your local Farmer's Market and talk with the people who grow your food. Learn what they're doing to reduce their impact on climate change, ask them questions, and gain a new appreciation for the food that you eat. If you're feeling really adventurous, summer is also a good time to start your own small garden at home, growing herbs and easy produce like cherry tomatoes or jalapenos!

We will be providing you with tons of resources over the next couple of months on the following topics:

+ what regenerative agriculture is, what the methods are, and how they differ from industrial practices

+ how to find and support a regenerative farmer near you

+ how regenerative agriculture is reducing the impact on climate change

+ the importance of soil health when it comes to growing nutritious food and how regenerative agriculture supports the soil

+ how to get involved with knowing where exactly your food is coming from and how it impacts the planet you live on
