As stay at home orders continue, now is the perfect time to do a little self-care with our toxin-free DIY body care products. Now that you've braved spring cleaning with our non-toxic cleaners, here's a few products you can make at home to wind down, relax, and give your body some extra love! All completely free of harsh chemicals & dangerous toxins that are commonly found in commercial body care products!


Ginger Lime Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Makes about 1 cup of body scrub


Ingredients

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup raw cane turbinado sugar

1/2 cup fractionated coconut oil or almond seed oil

10 drops of lime essential oil

5 drops of ginger essential oil


Instructions

1. Add all ingredients (essential oils last) to a bowl and whisk or stir with a fork until combined.

2. Store in an airtight jar/container.

3. Apply a small amount to skin and scrub until sugar dissolves.


Clay Face Mask

Makes enough for 5 face masks


Ingredients

10 tsp bentonite clay (also known as Indian healing clay)

10 tsp apple cider vinegar

5 drops of melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil

5 drops of lavender essential oil

5 drops of frankincense essential oil


Instructions

1. Add all ingredients to a bowl (essential oils last) and stir to combine. For a thicker mask, add an additional tsp of clay. For a thinner mask, add an additional tsp of apple cider vinegar.

2. Store in an airtight jar/container.

3. To use, apply to clean skin, avoiding areas around the eyes and mouth.

4. Let the mask dry for 5-15 minutes.

5. Rinse off with warm water, and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.


Hair Masque Treatment

Makes enough for 3 treatments


Ingredients

9 tbsp solid coconut oil

3 tbsp olive oil

8 drops each of lavender, peppermint, and rosemary essential oil...you can choose your own oils, but these are the best three for your hair!


Instructions

1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and whip using a hand mixer on medium-high until thoroughly blended and thick, about 5 minutes.

2. Store in airtight jar/container.

3. To use, apply desired amount to dry hair.

4. Comb through with a wide-toothed comb for even distribution and let sit for 15-20 minutes.

5. Rinse, and go about your regular hair care routine. Repeat once a week or as often as needed.


After-sun Soothing Spray

Ingredients

1 cup aloe vera juice...use aloe vera gel if you want it to be more like an all-over body rub

1/4 cup fractionated coconut oil

1 tsp vitamin E oil...we used almond oil which is a typical carrier oil for vitamin E

8 drops each of lavender, peppermint, and melaleuca essential oils


Instructions

1. Add all ingredients to a glass hand spritzer bottle and shake to combine. Stir in a bowl if using aloe vera gel.

2. Store in airtight jar/container if making a gel.

3. To use, spray or rub onto skin to for a soothing effect.
